OUR POLICY ON CONFIDENTIALITY

Important information about the personal data the credit union collects, and how it is used.

We Respect Your Privacy

Privacy is fundamental to the American way of life. When you provide personal information in order to process your transaction, you fully expect your data to be used only for its intended purpose and to be kept confidential.

We respect your right to confidentiality and take every possible measure to ensure that your personal information remains personal.

In short, we work hard to earn your confidence and preserve your trust.

We value your membership and hope you will remain with us for many years to come. If you ever have questions or concerns about the integrity of your account information - or any other aspect of our membership operations - please don't hesitate to telephone or come in and talk with our staff.

This privacy disclosure is being issued to comply with the provisions of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act governing the privacy of consumer financial information. This notice meets the requirements of the National Credit Union Administration regulation on privacy of consumer information, Part 716. Credit Union members and the public may receive copies of this notice of privacy practices by contacting the credit union.

Utilities Credit Union is committed to providing you with financial products and services to meet your needs and help you reach your financial goals. We are required by law to give you this privacy notice. It describes our policies and practices to protect your privacy and enable us to share information so we may provide our members competitive financial products and services. What follows is a description of the information we collect and disclose,
including the parties who receive nonpublic information from us as we
conduct the business of the credit union.

Information We Collect About You

We collect information about you from the following sources:

  • Information we receive from you on applications or other forms, such as your name, address, social security number, assets, and income.
  • Information about your transactions with us, our affiliates, or others, such as your account balance, payment history, parties to transactions, and credit card usage.
  • Information we receive from a consumer reporting agency, such as your creditworthiness and credit history.
  • Information obtained when verifying the information you provide on an application or other forms. This may be obtained from your current or past employers, or from other institutions where you conduct financial transactions. We may disclose all of the information we collect, as described above.

Parties Who Receive Information from Us

We may disclose nonpublic personal information about our members or former members to non- affiliated third parties as permitted by law, or nonpublic personal information we are not required to provide you an opt-out option:

  • Financial companies, such as insurance companies and mortgage service companies
  • Non-financial companies, such as, consumer reporting agencies

Disclosure of Information to Parties that Provide Services to Us

We may disclose all of the information we collect, as described above, to the companies that perform marketing or other services on our behalf or to other financial institutions with which we have joint marketing agreements. We may also disclose information about you under other circumstances as permitted or required by law. These disclosures typically include information to process transactions on your behalf, conduct the operations of our credit union, follow your instructions as you authorize or protect the security of our financial records.

Disclosure of Information About Former Members

If you decide to terminate your membership with Utilities Union, we will not share information we have collected about you, except as may be permitted or required by law.

How We Protect Your Information

We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those employees who need to know that information to provide products or services to you. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard your nonpublic personal information.

What Members Can Do to Help

Utilities Credit Union is committed to protecting the privacy of its members. Members can help by following these simple guidelines:

  • Protect your account numbers, plastic card numbers, PINs (personal identification numbers) and/or passwords. Never keep your PIN with your debit or credit card which can provide free access to your accounts if your card is lost or stolen.
  • Use caution when disclosing your account numbers, social security numbers, etc. to other persons. If someone calls you, claiming to be calling on behalf of the credit union and asks for your account number, you should beware. Official credit union staff has access to your information and will not need to ask for it.
  • Keep your information with us current. It is important that we have current information on how to reach you. If we detect potential fraudulent or unauthorized activity or use of an account, we will attempt to contact you immediately. If your address changes, please let us know.
